OUR VEHICLES
THE MINIBUS
The minibus seats 17 people including the driver. It has a rear access lift and we can help people who find getting up steps into buses difficult. We also have wheelchair restraints and seat belt rails and can therefore accommodate wheelchair users.
Hirers of the bus may provide their own drivers if they have the right licence and training. Alternatively, UCCT may be able to provide a volunteer driver – please ask about this when making a booking. All UCCT drivers are trained to MiDAS standards.
THE CAR
Our other vehicle is a 5-seater all-wheel-drive hybrid estate car, specially acquired to handle winter conditions and places with restricted or difficult access.
Driven by our volunteers, it is used primarily to take people to healthcare appointments around the county, which includes vaccination appointments in Alnwick. At other times it is used for services such as soup and food delivery, as well as providing general transport for small numbers of people.
The car was bought in 2020 using a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund.
